Day 7 - Valencia the home of Paella

Love it or hate it, wherever you go in Spain you are sure to find Paella on the menu. Valencia is the third largest city in Spain but you will be surprised at how small and compact the old town is. Paella was born in Valencia and it is here that you will sample the very best Paella dishes.

A few tips to ensure you are getting the very best Paella. Paella should always be made fresh so make sure you order Paella for 2 as a single portion is unpractical to make fresh so it is often kept frozen and reheated.

Be suspicious if your Paella arrives in under 20 minutes as it wont have been cooked to order, and remember Paella is only eaten at lunchtime never in the evening.

So you have tried and tested a few different Paellas and now want to show off your culinary skills when you get home, then head to the markets in the southern part of the historic centre where you will find 1000's of stores all stocked with those essential ingredients and dont forget to stop at the snail stall!

Central market is not to be missed, go hungry and sample the hams, juices, candies etc plus take your camera as you are sure to get some amazing photo opportunities!
