Sri Lanka

Just south of India lies the tropical paradise of Sri Lanka. Miles of unspoilt beaches edge the coastline and a history that dates back thousands of years. UNESCO World Heritage sites and temples cover it's hilly interior and National Parks teem with fascinating wildlife, including hundreds of elephants and leopards are all over the island. Boat trips from the beaches in the south reveal turtles, dolphins and whales. Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to see Blue Whales in their natural habitat, as the deep water provides ideal feeding ground for migrating whales from November to April. Sperm whales, killer whales, pilot whales and dolphins are also regularly spotted in whale watching trips.

Awash with colour, vibrancy and beauty from the gloriously gold sands to the verdant jungles entwined around ancient monuments beneath blazing blue skies, Sri Lanka is a dream destination for many. The Southwest coast is especially popular, with resorts such as Negombo and Bentota which have an array of stunning hotels from old colonial to modern and trendy resorts. Trincomalee on the east coast is also a popular, quieter option. Combine a beach stay with a tour to the tea plantations and national parks and spend a day at the Pinnewla Elephant Orphanage.
